Driving on motorways or A-roads for 10-15 minutes at above 40mph should be sufficient for DPF regeneration to take place. Cleaning out the ash The process of burning the soot in the DPF filter leaves an ash residue, which builds up over time and needs to be removed.
Tractor. RK37HC. My RK37HC now has 64 hours on it and I have yet to see a regen request. Several months back I seem to remember someone mentioning that theirs did a regen right at 50 hours when the first service was due. Just curious at what point other RK37 owners are seeing for having to start the regen process.
Eventually dealer told me if dpf light came on to take car on open road and select a gear (4) sport auto and drive at 3500 rpm (110 klm) until dpf light went out. So far this has worked. Need to travel 20-25 klm to complete regen. DPF needs to achieve 600c min to do an active burn. Reply
DPF switch left in regeneration mode, I have never inhibited regeneration. Occasionally before a regen, the DPF regeneration indicator will blink on/off at 1 sec intervals indicating a >120% soot load, then soon after it will go through a normal regen cycle without me needing to initiate it via the DPF switch.
DPF Regeneration Benefits. While diesel particulate filters are designed to trap waste particles, unburnable as naturally gets collected over time. That causes excess backpressure, leading to DPF downtime and failure as well as reduced fuel economy. The cost of replacing a single DPF can also run to almost $10,000.
After regenerates it usually builds up pretty fast but then the restriction must build enough heat to keep it clean. Here is a good thread Pat started as well. According to this 100 hours is the maximum it will go but it looks like I will get there or close. Engine regeneration, regen, DPF, emissions.
oWSWPp. Regen typically lasts about 20-30 mins and happens only above 30 mph. If it get interrupted, the system will pick up where it left off. A sign you interrupted the regen is that the truck will idle at 800 rpm instead of 680 rpm. I really can't speak to much to how the other manufactures achieve DPF compliance.
If you don’t do this, active regeneration should occur every 300 miles or so depending on how you use the car. How long does DPF regeneration take? Passive regeneration will take around 30-50 minutes to complete at speeds over 40mph, while active regeneration can be completed in as little as 10 minutes at the same speeds.
When taking a long trip, I accelerate WOT on an entrance ramp to 85 or so and this usually triggers a regen if it needs one (delta P across the DPF is highest at WOT, plus it's fun). This assures the regen is completed on the trip. Uses about 1/3 gallon extra fuel during regen. On long trips with the camper, 1 regen per tank, about 400 mi.

SERVICE TIPS: DURAMAX EGR VALVE/DPF. Two critical elements that need to be checked out at 100,000 miles are the EGR valve and the DPF. Hasten says to run a computerized flow test on the DPF filter tol show if the filter in the exhaust stream needs cleaning or replacing. A number of companies across the country offer such filter cleaning
The vehicle operator must set the park brake and enable the parked regeneration to begin. Engine rpm increases and raw fuel is injected into the exhaust gas at the exit of the engine to generate the appropriate regeneration temperatures. The stationary vehicle manual regeneration processes take about 30 minutes.
